Team Leads and empty roles

Team Leads and empty roles

Every team has a Lead. When a role is empty, the Lead stands in for it, so there's always a name to ask.

Leads show in the team above

When a team has sub-teams, it gets a Team lead role automatically. The Leads of its sub-teams hold it, so you can see in one place who leads what. This role updates itself: to change it, change the Lead of the sub-team.

When nobody holds a role

In  Teams & Roles , an empty role shows its team's Lead with as {Team} lead next to their name. If the Lead role itself is empty, the Lead of the team above stands in.
Standing in only changes what you see. The stand-in doesn't hold the role: it isn't added to their ratings, their My Roles page or the people counts. To make it theirs, assign them the role.

Who rates whom

  • The team's Lead rates everyone holding a role in that team.
  • The Lead's own roles, and the Lead role itself, are rated by the Lead of the team above.
  • The Lead of a top-level team has nobody above them, so they only rate themselves.
Leads give these ratings in  See your team's ratings . For what the ratings mean, see  Role Ratings: Skill, Energy, Attention .
